The role of the Foundries Industry Advisory Committee
is to advise the Health and Safety Commission (HSC)
on the protection of people at work and others from
hazards to health and safety arising within the foundries
industry. In addition to the support and guidance given
to the SHIFT initiative, the work programme of FIAC
often falls within the remit of two committees: -
The Occupational Health and Hygiene Sub-Committee
was established to advise FIAC on health risks
(excluding noise and vibration) in the UK foundries
industry and produce appropriate guidance.
The Noise and Vibration Sub-Committee was established
to advise FIAC on health risks caused by noise
and hand-arm vibration in the UK foundries industry
and produce appropriate guidance.
